Choosing or Changing Attorneys

Choosing an Attorney

If you don't have an attorney and would like to select one to represent you, you must do your homework.   If you have an on-going matter, obtain your file, write down all your questions before making a consultation appointment.   Then:

  • Consult with at least 2 attorneys who limit their practice to Family Law;
  • Ask ALL your questions during the consultations;
  • Don't be shy about asking the attorney for his/her Family Law experience;
  • Take what you learned to the next consultation, ask the same questions.   If the answers you receive contradict with those previously obtained, ask for clarifications.
